I have been working on becoming more consistent in my habits this year and so I have been tackling: workouts, eating healthier, decluttering, and then spring cleaning. I wanted to be authentic and real with you, so I have included you in on what I am actually doing and not what I hoped to do. Sharing what I intend to do often doesn’t get done at all!
So I was spring cleaning my home. I told you that I don’t normally spring clean? I usually rotate which room I do and deep clean what I can get to one room at a time. Then, I forget all about my plan to rotate the rooms and cleaning only happens on the surface. That usually means the house is vacuumed and the floors are washed.
I cleaned the bathrooms.
I cleaned the living room.
But I never got to the kitchen.
The dishes, counters and floor are done every day and the kitchen floor is washed at least twice a week.
What Happened to Spring Cleaning My House?
First of all, I started too late into spring.
Second of all, I am seeing so many other things needing to be done.
I am still going through our books. I am giving away all my homeschooling curriculum. That is a big job.
Spring is in full swing and now there is weeding around my flowers. One day I took all the leaves out from on top of my Hostas so they could grow.
I can’t tell you how many times I have washed the thick layers of pollen off the deck table and chairs so I could enjoy sitting outside. Life isn’t all work, you know.
I am Going to Schedule WHEN I will Spring Clean My Kitchen
A clean kitchen is very important to me so I am going to decide WHEN I will do it and schedule it in. Then, hopefully I will look at the schedule and get the job done!
When you have a task that you are not getting around to, add it to your TO DO List and decide when you will do it.
Part of the problem is that we all have too much to do and too much that we see needs to be done. Prioritizing what has to be done and limiting how many things I allow on my list or schedule is less overwhelming. It is more possible that I will actually get the job done.
I am going to do my kitchen spring cleaning early tomorrow morning. No more procrastination for me!
If you haven’t done your kitchen spring cleaning, the check-off chart that I am including will be helpful for you.
