I have some secrets for living healthy and feeling better that I have been sharing lately. Changing up your exercise routine by alternating workouts, bike riding, and walking to boost the burn of calories will up your metabolism while improving your energy levels and you may even slim off 10 pounds or more.
I had been waking up feeling more exhausted than the night before. Doing household chores only made me weak and tired. I had been eating too much chocolate and carbs. I was sure I was heading toward diabetes!
To make it worse, I gained back 5 of the 20 pounds I lost 4 years ago!!
Walking to Boost the Calorie Burn
I have found a secret to waking up refreshed in the morning without that feeling of exhaustion hanging over me. Even if you don’t have the best health, walking is worth a try.
Just remember that I am not a doctor and am just a mom sharing some tips that I found worked for me. Consult your health care practitioner before adding exercise to your daily regimen.
A short brisk walk for about 15 minutes boosts the burn of calories as you shed around 200 of those pesky guys.
Be An Example for Your Kids
It never worked for me to tell my children to clean the bathroom, practice an instrument, or exercise unless I was willing to do it also. Being an example for my kids always was a way of glorifying the Lord in all that I did.
Think Healthy Instead of the Number on the Scale
I get on the scale daily so I have learned what ’causes that’ extra pound to appear in my gut. Cookies, chips, pasta, and other yummies all end up in one place on me!! You would say I am thin; but I know my body and what starts to make me sluggish.
I am beginning to realize that it is not the number on the scale but being healthy that ought to matter most.
So, I am committed to living healthy instead of just trying to stay slim. I might not be able to stay as slim as the Lord adds days to my years. My new goal is to be healthy.
How about you??
Walk Your Way to Slim
I am enjoying the warmer weather as summer has finally arrived!! I took back my bike and started to ride it again. I am going to add walking to that by changing up what I might choose to do each day.
Are you juggling life with your kids? Take them for a walk! The fresh air will do you all some good.
When my kids were young, we used to walk to the end of our road and walk into the woods and then down along the river. It was a good workout and my children always enjoyed playing along the river. What better way to combine exercise with building relationships.
Think About the Life Improving Benefits of Walking
There are life improving benefits of walking that you might never have thought about. Knowing some of them can serve as motivation to include walking in your routine.
You will get more out of your day
Chance to be outdoors and explore God’s world around you
You can pray and meditate on God’s Word
Able to take deep breaths and enjoy the moment
Stepping away from the keyboard and work through ideas
Boost your calorie burn
Relaxes and de-stresses you
These are all life improving benefits of walking that will boost your burn of those unwanted calories. I am going to walk 2 to 3 times each week and experience the life-giving benefits of renewed health.
Do you take walks? If not, why not? I challenge you to get outside with your kids or grandkids or with just you and the Lord and take a walk this week.
