Right now you are writing a story because your days on earth are like a tale that is told. Ours days are short and we have no idea how long they will be. Are you and I living our lives to redeem the time for the Lord Jesus? Will what we chose to do count for eternity?
In the Old Testament we read about the kings of Israel. Whenever I read through that portion of the Bible, I am amazed at how many of those kings did evil in the sight of the Lord. They knew better but they still were drawn away from the Lord.
Every single one of the kings from the northern tribes, all 19 of them, did evil in God’s sight. Out of the kings from Judah, 11 pleased the Lord while the rest turned from God and did evil. The incredible thing about this; is that 1 in 4 did good in God’s eyes.
Those kings would have told you that they were Israelites, God’s chosen people. There are many today who will claim the name of Jesus and say that they are Christians, but is the ratio 1 out-of-four who are serious about Jesus?
We will have to give an account ALONE to God
We all tend to keep our eyes on what other people are doing and measure what we do against others.
We are in a world that has gone haywire with thorns and the devil sifting everyone like wheat.
Will there only be 1 out of 4 people that will be able to say that they did right in the sight of God? It is harder to do right than to do wrong. If you are going to live in such a way that you are doing right, you will have to get your eyes off of other people and onto Jesus.
The Bible has many examples of people who did wrong and the purpose of that is so we can learn from them and do right. Much of our life is spent suffering for sin and the mistakes that we made.
We don’t think we are going to die!!
When we are children, we don’t think we are going to die. Even when we are a teenager or in our twenties we somehow think the possibility of our death is a long way off. An elderly person still doesn’t really think they are going to die even though they are in the twilight years of their life.
There was a man in his eighties who had a heart condition who told a friend that, “He was in the prime of his life!” The young man he was speaking to was only 21!!
We don’t want to admit or deal with the possibility of death and that is because God created us to live forever. God never intended that we should die but because of sin we must face death. We will someday stand before God and give an account for how we lived our lives.
Remembering that we will someday stand before God and give an account of the story of our lives ought to motivate us to live for Him.
So Teach us to number our days
“So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.” ~Psalm 90:12~
Are you going through a difficult time? If you aren’t right now, there was probably some point in your past that you can identify with dealing with troubles.
There is nothing that has happened in this life that God hasn’t allowed. Nothing!!
Do we live in such a way that we are looking to prepare ourselves to meet God?
Why would it be worth it to ‘sin for a season’ knowing that we will have to someday answer for our every action?!
We know that we will someday be called into account but what are we doing about it?
Lord, teach us how to prepare for the inevitable!
Why not use the talents God has given you for the Lord?
There is time as long as you are able to breath air into your lungs to redeem your days for the Lord.
What are you going to do for the Lord to redeem your life story for Christ?
