What do YOU do when there is a crisis?
All of us are faced with dire circumstances in our family more than we’d like. We don’t like looking ahead, worrying about the possibility of heartache bringing financial strain, sickness, broken bones, calamities, or rebellion in a child’s heart.
We just don’t want to go there.
What are you facing right now?
“FEAR ye NOT, STAND STILL, and SEE the salvation of the LORD.” ~Exodus 14:13~
After all the 10 plagues had been carried out the way God promised, you’d think Pharaoh would get the point. He thinks he can win the fight against God as he chases after the Israelites with more than 600 chariots and horses. He had sustained a huge loss against God and still entertained the thought that he could recapture the Israelites. His problem was that he couldn’t see the big picture for his pride!
You’d probably shudder too, if you saw the Egyptians stampeding after you!
One minute the Israelites are crying out to God in their fear and distress.
The next minute they had forgotten that the day before they were still in bondage and cruel slave labor to the Egyptians.
They complained when they were overwhelmed with work in Egypt and fell quickly into the habit of complaining once they were released.
“And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? Wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt? Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone that we should serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness.” ~Exodus 14:11~
How soon we forget!
Who’s Battle Are You Fighting?
Moses does not rebuke the Israelites for complaining but compassionately addresses the root of the problem.
He tells them…
“The Lord shall fight for you.” ~Exodus 14:15~
Remember that problem you are facing?
Are you fretting over it?
Are you frantically trying to work things out?
God doesn’t want you to just sit idling by when we have a child needing medical attention FAST.
Standing still is our attitude before God and does not always require us to physically be still.
There are times when getting away to seek God would be in order but not when your child is bleeding.
Waiting on God during a crisis is something that is done in our spirit when the situation requires action.
Often what you are complaining about is NOT the real problem, it is deeper and we need to look a little closer at the situation.
The Israelites really didn’t want to go back to Egypt as slaves. They really weren’t looking back.
How often do we say things we really didn’t mean?
That is what the Israelites did when they complained that they had left Egypt just to get overtaken by the Egyptians hot pursuit.
But Moses saw that the root of their problem was fear. He encouraged them to . . .
And . . .
SEE THE SALVATION OF THE LORD!!
How many times we almost give up just before a break-through?!
Remember the issue you are facing?
SEE how the Lord is going to get you out of this one.
Moses tells the Israelites that the Egyptians whom they have seen today, will never be seen by them again.
The LORD will fight for YOU!!
Whatever your troubles are today, you can trust God.
If God can dump the walls of the Red Sea upon ALL of Pharaoh’s mighty army, He can solve ALL your problems!
“God said, Speak unto the children of Israel that they may GO FORWARD.” ~Exodus 14:15~
YES, GO FORWARD!!
After you have “STOOD STILL” and trusted God for your situation, He will give you instructions on what to do. He will send you a Cloud by day and a Pillar of Fire by night to guide you.
He will make His presence known to you.
He will solve your situation in a most surprising way. He doesn’t always say, “Yes” but you can be reassured that “The LORD will fight for YOU!!
Has Exodus 14 come alive for you?
Do you SEE how God will guide you like He did the Israelites and fight your battles for you? He totally destroyed Pharaoh’s army when in their fearless pride they followed the Israelites into the Red Sea!
How has God worked in YOUR life through impossible circumstances?
