“And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.” ~Ephesians 4:32~
We forget that we are blood-bought sinners bound for hell without accepting what Jesus did on Calvary to atone for our sins. We totally forget that we are even bad!!
We justify ourselves and sometimes even our closest friends. Sadly most of us don’t justify or even let our husband off the hook. We keep him hanging on that hook.
If you are saved, you will forgive your neighbor, your husband, your children, friend, even your enemies.
When a Believer considers that he is a saved, Heaven-bound child of God, he ought to be filled with gratefulness. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist with a Ph.D to figure out that the Bible is all about forgiveness.
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” ~Romans 3:23~
If you are saved, you must forgive too!!
We are in BIG Trouble!!
Once saved we forget what we are saved from and carry on like God owes it to us!
All we have to do is read our Bible just a little bit to see how much trouble we are in. Not prosperity, T-R-O-U-B-L-E!!
We daily glide through our quiet times without God’s Word penetrating into our heart. Yes, God has forgotten our sin and buried it in the deepest sea but so often, we carry on as if we NEVER sinned.
And we hold grudges.
If we really dig down into Scripture, we will notice that we are in BIG trouble!! Because we are sinners, we are condemned already.
“He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. ~John 3:18~
God has given us a death sentence!!
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” ~Romans 6:23~
God Had Something Better Planned
God doesn’t leave us there in our sin so long as we accept the gift of His Son, Jesus Christ. The problem comes when we skip past the ‘sin’ part and justify that we never did anything wrong. Granted,it is often in our subconscious thoughts.
Something spectacular happened when Christ came and died for our sins!! He died on the cross!! Better yet, He arose from the grave!! He paid my sin debt by doing this!! When I came to Christ as a little girl, by faith in Jesus alone, I received total forgiveness and a full pardon through God Himself. Amen!!
When our sin debt is paid, we no longer owe it and have no penalty left to be paid.
That is where forgiveness comes in.
Forgiveness Is a Treasured Gift From Our Heavenly Father!!
God laid out conditions for revival in our hearts and soul. In order for us to be totally transformed, we must forgive too!!
“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. ~2 Chronicles 7:14~
This forgiveness comes to us as a precious treasured gift from God.
“Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.” ~Psalm 32:1~
This is totally what it means to be saved and in the family of God…BUT…
We Must Forgive Too!!
No harboring unforgiveness
No nasty replies
No sleeping on the sofa
Simply “the Cross Life”
There have been times that I struggled with forgiveness particularly with my husband because he is the closest person in my life. I won’t go to sleep. I will cry. Read my Bible. Pray. Pray. Pray through until I reach the point where I can forgive.
Just because I am writing about forgiveness doesn’t mean that I have always forgiven easily or that I always walk perfectly but I don’t rest until I do!
Do you ever struggle with forgiveness? Are you struggling with it now?
