Do you stay inside most of the day? In the winter it is cozy and warm inside. Inviting. In the summer it is cool if you have air-conditioning. For me, I love getting outside but often the day slips away before I have ventured outside.
I am discovering that summer mornings are the best time to get outside.
The air is still cool and dew is still resting on the flowers and plants. If you are blessed, your children are peacefully sleeping. More likely than not, they are already awake.
When we were in the height of gardening, we would be outside pulling weeds first thing in the morning. I’m not sure if that was the most relaxing thing to do but it taught my children how to work-side-by-side.
Embrace your season of life and enjoy your children even before seven in the morning.
Benefits of Getting Outside in the Mornings
There are many reasons to get outside anytime of the day. A good dose of sunshine is beneficial anytime of the day because it pushes away depression by adding vitamin D to your body.
Get outside in the morning and your day won’t slip away inside
Gardening can be done before the heat of the day
If you like walking or running you won’t have neglected it
Getting outside gets your mind off your To-Do-List while you muse, meditate, and pray and thank Jesus for the new day
It is relaxing outside
You can hear the birds that are blocked out by air-conditioners and fans
You might also see a deer (hopefully not a bear!)
Refreshing Your Soul
Getting outside and especially in the morning, refreshes your soul. It is like a battery that recharges you for the day. If you are able to get outside before your children get up in the morning, all the better as you will be refreshed and ready to meet your day with them. Some mornings I like to sit on my porch to spend time with the Lord before greeting my day.
