I struggle with chocolate and as long as it is still in the house, I eat it!
Each day I tell myself that I am NOT going to have any sugary goodness and by late morning, if there is chocolate anywhere in the house, I find it and have some.
That is why I am doing the Healthier Initiative 365 and whether anyone joins me or not. I’m “IN.”
I love Darlene Schacht’s idea for Project 365 and I am joining with her because I identify with her struggles because I am having them too.
I say I am eating healthier and I am. I eat my fruit and yogurt for breakfast, then blow it with something I find stashed. Even chocolate chips will do. I don’t typically buy candy.
The trouble with craving sugar and carbs isn’t just poor eating habits.
There is a root issue that goes down deeper than the surface struggle with indulgence.
The problem is self-control.
How many other areas of my life are affected by my lack of self-control?
I am talking about re-vamping my whole life and being more fervent in everything I do.
When I fail, which I do and will probably do again this year, it is because I did not have self-control.
It is like my cravings for chocolate that keep me from doing something that I really wanted to do.
Challenging Myself to Get Healthier in 365 Days
I keep beating myself up each day that I fail.
Instead, I am going to pick myself up and try again.
For me, there are about 6 areas that I want to be more fervent in.
I really think that what I put into my mouth profoundly affects me in other areas of my life.
Bad diet can affect our emotions and hormones. It can cause us to become diabetic or cause a candida yeast overgrowth.
Ultimately, when we indulge in sugary goodness overly much, the real problem is spiritual because the bottom line is self-control. I mean, lack of it!!
So, I am challenging myself (and telling you about it) to get healthier during the next 356 days.

Here is How it Works
Now, I’ve told you before and I’ll tell you again, that I am not that original. I got the idea of how to carry out my daily failed challenge from Darlene over at Time Warp Wife.
I am going to give myself one point for each day that I:
- Stay away from refined sugar products (AKA chocolate) – 1 Point
- Workout for 20 minutes – 1 Point
- Workout for 40 – 60 minutes – 2 Points
I am going to do this for 365 days because I am going for a healthier lifestyle that is glorifying to the Lord Jesus Christ. My body is His temple. I am an ambassador for the Lord and I want my life to reflect that in every single area.
