Welcome back to Week 3 of “Weariness to Strength” Bible Reading series. I am so thankful that you have taken time out of your busy schedule to stop over. I hope you will be totally blessed today and take away a good dose of encouragement.
Writing this little series has been such a growing time for me. I think that is the way it is. The one doing the writing gets a blessing from God too!
Did you print off the Bible Reading Plan? Have you been following along?
I hope you have but if not, just read along here with your open Bible to see what the Lord will bless you with today.
Let’s dig right in!!
1. 2 Corinthians 12:7-10
Are you short on grace today? Is your life hard these days?
My favorite verses or my ‘life verses’ are 2 Corinthians 12:9 & 10 but what I never noticed before were the two verses that come first.
Isn’t it amazing how we can hear God speaking to us in a totally new way?
I have read over and over how Paul had a thorn in his flesh. I never noticed how these two sustaining verses came right after he shared about that thorn.
Paul had prayed that the thorn would be taken away but God’s answer was that it would remain.
What is your thorn?
What is the thing about your life that is really hard?
Your health? Your marriage? Your children? Your finances?
Maybe it is a habit you can’t break. Maybe it is something about your home that is hard to live with.
Of course your husband isn’t a thorn although he sure may seem to be at times. Think of how much of a thorn you are to him sometimes!! Your kids aren’t your thorn either but they may be very very hard to deal with much of the time.
Whatever it is in your life, God is likely not going to remove it either.
He wants to show Himself strong in your life. He wants to abide in you. He wants to give you His strength.
So He is telling you today . . .
My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then I am strong. ~2 Corinthians 12:9-10~
If God always took away the hardships in life, we would not see Jesus. We tend to want a life of ease but an easy life just isn’t reality.
Press into Jesus and rely on His grace. Know it is sufficient for you. It is when you are totally weak that you will see and feel His strength. Then you are strong. Only then.
Let me know how this week’s readings spoke to your heart. What is God doing in your life? What struggles are you dealing with so I can pray for you?
I am breaking this study up into shorter posts because who has time to read something long?! Does this work for you better?
