Where is your time going?
Where are these minutes going that turn into hours, days, and then your life?
We will be accountable for how we spend our time.
Just a few short years ago, just trying to maintain my life was an issue that caused me to be stressed most of the time.
Being stressed was a major weakness of mine and I am not sure that I ever totally got control of that area. I had so many responsibilities and so many children to direct. I had a system in maintaining our home, so things would have been much crazier without it.
What I want to do is share some of the things that I have found worked in case you might find them helpful.
I remember, at the time, I was homeschooling 7 children, maintaining the housework, church activities which included band practice twice a week for the kids, 30 chickens, a rabbitry with 60+ rabbits depending on how many litters were born and how many had been sold.
I was also dealing with intense behavior issues due to FAS in two of our children. Sometime, I will share about that.
There is an Urgent Need for Time Management
Our children grow up fast, so if your time isn’t managed well, you won’t take the time to share the gospel with them.
It is ultra important to get the gospel out to the world.
One of the reasons I even bother blogging is because I can encourage ladies to follow the Lord and hopefully reach those who are not even saved. It is possible for someone to Google ‘time management’ and come up with my blog who would NEVER have been interested in a devotional.
Our nation is fading fast because our time here on earth is drawing to a rapid close.
Blogging is a way of casting off the terrible things that are happening by putting on the armor of light. Sharing reasons why our time management is important in light of the Bible will rock the world of many.
The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. ~Romans 13:12
Just glean from this what will work for you. Even if you do one thing, you will be well on your way.
Are you spinning your wheels trying to maintain life?
Are you going nuts trying to keep yourself and your family going, like I was?
Let’s take some baby steps today in getting control of our time.
I am sure the biggest problem that I had was doing too much. I still have the problem of writing too much down on my Daily To-Do List.
Did you know that according to Julie Morgenstern in Managing Your Time from the Inside Out, “70% of people would like to have more time to spend with friends, work on craft projects, and some said that they just wanted to have fun.”
That would be me!!
Your lack of getting control of time can keep you from being able to accomplish something that you wanted to do.
It makes you feel unproductive.
It keeps you from doing things that helps you to spend time with God. That is one of the biggest time-wasters when satan causes you to lose time to spend with God.
You might find balancing your life is so hard.
Satan is a thief and wants you to waste your time here on earth.
He wants to keep you from doing things you need to do for your family and God.
Maintaining Your Life
Are you faithful in carrying out your routine?
The first step in getting control of your life is maintaining your routine.
It is nice to keep to a time schedule but for me it is often a dream.
Instead, here are a few things to get started with each day. Try doing these things in order without even worrying about time slots at first.
- Do things in order as much as possible. Find a rhythm for your day.
- Shower right after making your bed (you do make your bed, right?) and working out
- Quiet Time spent with God before your day gets going (that is before texting, messaging, and Facebook scrolling begins).
- Spend 1/2 hour to an hour on cleaning or home maintenance. You might choose to declutter your closet instead of cleaning the house. I spend about an hour on something that maintains our home while my energy is fresh for the day.
- Block your time out. Do you homeschool? work outside or inside the home? Whatever you do with the majority of your time, block that out and get going.
Facebook can be an issue for me since I use it for my blog and my business. There is always a call to action and so many voices calling my name to read this or do that.
For me, time management takes a nose dive into a black hole when I am on social media. I have to guard my time because I will have to give an account for how I used it.
I seriously have to get control of my time in order to maintain my life and keep it in balance.
How is the use of YOUR time affecting YOUR life? Are you controlling your time or is time controlling you?
