You know that as soon as your foot steps out of your bedroom the day starts. The kids need you, breakfast needs to be on the table within short order before irritability, chaos, and the frenzy begins.
The house is already looking dirty with mud tracked into the kitchen and the laundry scattered from the bedrooms to the bathroom! You don’t remember the house being this messy last night. You are thinking you are almost sure that you picked up the clutter!
My friend, are you pulled into the morning frenzy as someone is looking for a sock, another can’t find her school books, and the two boys begin to bicker?
Are you prepared when the day gets going and the kids are up?
More than likely, it won’t go seemlessly.
You are needed.
And maybe not even shown disrespect within minutes of walking out your bedroom door.
You may not have even managed to pour your first cup of coffee (or water) before the craziness started!
I remember those days!
I had barely finished my Quiet Time when I would meet up with one of my children as I stepped across the threshold of my bedroom door. Immediately there would be issues to settle!
What if I Hadn’t Spent Time with the Lord?
Mostly I did. I remember some times when it had just not happened.
I was out-of-sorts!
I wasn’t a happy mama until I had spent time with the Lord.
Not to mention how bad a spirit I had because I had missed that time. alone with the Lord!
It’s such a good thing to desire to spend time with the Lord but not when I would totally lose it because that time slipped away.
Talk about being a Pharisee!
Do you Miss that Time with the Lord Every. Single. Day?
It was easy for me to see my behavior change when only one day was occasionally missed with the Lord.
What if your time with the Lord is missed for the whole week? Or month? Or longer?
Not everyone is going to get cranky and irritable. Some may be able to maintain an outer control and maybe even an inner control.
Maybe you are being calm and civil to those around you while inside you are barely holding it together.
You are holding on by a thread and about to break.
You just want to escape!!
You don’t know how that is possible because you have several little children who are totally dependent on you. In fact, you really don’t want it any other way. You love them.
But you are just frazzled and life becomes a frenzy first thing in the morning. You just need to escape!
You CAN Escape!
You might have to stop burning the midnight oil. You might just have to get to bed earlier so you can get up on time.
If you can’t stop staying up late, you might just have to get up earlier.
You can do it!
If you wake up a half hour or hour before your kids and get right to reading your Bible, you can escape to spend time with the Lord before the morning frenzy begins.
If you think it is easy for me, and that I don’t know what it is like for you, THINK AGAIN!
You would never have wanted to walk in my shoes. If you had known what my shoes were like, you would become fainthearted!!
For the past 20 years or more, I got up before my children to spend time with the Lord. I didn’t always read my Bible as faithfully. Somewhere along the line, that changed.
For the Next Seven Days Just Do It!
Before the morning frenzy starts and anything (or anybody) calls your name, slip away and spend time with the Lord.
Stay off of Facebook or any other social media, EVEN IF IT IS FOR YOUR JOB!!
Before anything bombards your day with its demands, spend time in God’s Word.
Begin by asking God for His divine wisdom over the moments and hours that lay ahead. Before your children roll out of bed, spend time with the Lord.
In the morning, O LORD, You will hear my voice; in the morning I will order my prayer to You and eagerly watch: ~Psalm 5:3~
If you will do this, the morning frenzy will slip away.
The Lord knows the burdens of your heart. He knows the fears you face today.
Right where you are, cast all your burdens on the Lord. Right now.
God will be your Refuge.
He will be your Guide.
God will give you wisdom and understanding as you read the Word today.
Has reading the Bible and spending time with God been something that has slipped in your life recently?
